Job Description
This is an entry-level position creating and updating permanent flight clearance manuals for all Navy/USMC aircraft. Tasking involves editing existing electronic-based media, converting hardcopy manuals and supplied data into electronic-based media, and website posting of completed documents.
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred. Technical school degree or an Associate's degree with two (2) years of related experience may be considered or four (4) years of general work experience is required. Of the four (4) years, at least one and a half (1) years must be relevant work experience.
Experience: Technical writing and document editing with extensive hands-on experience working with publishing software packages strongly desired. Experience with editing and/or familiarity with permanent flight clearance manuals (NATOPS/NATIP) preferred. Understanding of XML and integrated publishing applications, particularly PTC Arbortext Editor, and Adobe Acrobat, is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in grammar, punctuation, and spelling is required. A strong computer background is required. Candidate must be familiar with internet tools and be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Incumbent must be detail-oriented, flexible, and able to grasp concepts and processes required to complete assigned tasks. The ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, and production team is critical. The Candidate is expected to perform within a team environment as well as independently on his/her assigned projects. This is a fast-paced, dynamic environment, requiring responsiveness to project demands, efficiency, turnaround times, fluctuating schedules and priorities.
