Public Relations (PR) Specialist/Communications Specialist

OverviewPublic Realtions (PR) Specialist (AIR-2023-19318-F)Bowhead seeks a Public Relations (PR) Specialist with experience in internal and external communications to join our team in support of the NAVAIR Digital Department located at NAS Patuxent River, MD.
Position is a hybrid, a mixture of work on government site and telework.
ResponsibilitiesCreate and edit articles, news releases, fact sheets, how to guides, talking points, digital news pieces, message maps and other written content to stimulate internal and external interest in command accomplishments and enhance understanding of the command, its workforce, and missionConduct research to respond to organization and media queries and pass information to the workforce, federal public affairs officer, and othersWork as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to effectively promote and field digital knowledge, skills, transformation, and adoptionHelp leadership communicate effectively with the organization's nationwide workforce and general publicHelp maintain the organization's corporate image and identity; aligning with leadership's focus areasDraft speeches, talking points and presentations for the organization's leadership and subject matter expertsEvaluate marketing programs to determine whether they are compatible with organization's public relations effortsQualificationsBS or BA degree in communication, journalism, or a related writing-intensive field6 years of experience as a communications professional Experience in creating and executing internal or external focused mass communications plans requiredMust have a solid command of writing articles, captions and other products in Associated Press style Experience working with IT professionals to clearly communicate IT instructions, information and initiatives Posses the ability to learn and test new technologies and capabilities to educate others on the pros and consFlexible, persistent self-starter with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment, working multiple priorities Familiarity with change management and risk communications highly desiredPrior experience supporting DoD or government agency preferredAbility to work with multimedia and digital development professionals; multimedia experience preffered.
Intermediate Microsoft Office suite skills - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Office 365 a plus.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts and strong interpersonal skills and good judgment, with the ability to work alone or as part of a teamPhysical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of timeMust be able to twist, bend and squat periodically SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level.
US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
